So, who's your model and mic tester extraordinaire? Oh me.
The other day, a photography major used me for her portrait project for class; I got to be all goofy and put on my wigs, glasses, and scarves. I even massacred my mum (my newest plant from Madonnarama GayBingo) in lieu of a rose to put in my chompers. See Mom? It was worth shippin' my costume stuff out here!
Today, Beckie used me as a hand model for the illustrations in her book for book arts class. Woo hoo, I am already going to be published! Scary? Yes. I know.
I just got back from rehearsal for Working, and I went around with Mia and tested all the mics... on the stage... hehehe. This is us "what should we say?" ::silence:: and Steve, the sound man, motioning chatter with his hands at us. So pretty much the whole cast got to hear us sound foolish. Fun fun!
I came to the sudden realization, today, that I missed my class that got moved to monday this week. Grrr. Oh well.
Another realization that I had a few days ago... I can't go to see Ben Kweller because of rehearsals. Look what I do to my friends. I make and break engagements. I'm sorry, I'm sorry Jordan. I hate when people do that to me.
But, wheeee for me (as Gina would say) on getting 98% on my Doll's House quiz.

22 November 2002

Hey, added some new pics to Kids. Just some more that I forgot I had.
::flashback:: Every year for years, I go the Pend Orielle County fair back in Washington, where I sometimes show animals (which have included cows, beef, llamas, and sheep) or just help the superintendents with their departments. This is where I met my best friend Dell and where we only see eachother for one week of the year. This year it happened to be just a few days before I left with Morgan to tour NYC, DC, and Philly, a.k.a. Fun Fun Trip 2002. When there was a problem with the sound in the livestock arena, it was the true test for me, if I should really be going to school for ATA. And, hey! I fixed it! Wheeeeeee for me.
Back about the end of September, my six floor Pine friends had an incident with the girl down the hall that was occusing the rest of them of stealing a rebate check from her, which she actually just misplaced. So, I took their mugshots and they were posted in the hall, with a few more embellishments such as "WANTED" and whatnot. hehehe.

I have come to realize that no matter how old I get, having divorced parents will always be hard. Of course there are those times when my parents' schedules are perfectly opposite and everything is easy. But for the most part, I have to sacrifice time with one to be with the other... a decision made by balancing and weighing. Now that I have moved to the other side of the country from them, it seems like the decisions should be easier. Wrong. Now, I have a schedule of my own to also take into consideration and my time at home is even more limited, so I have to make the most of it. Despite the stress of trying to please both parents and the uneasiness when they are disappointed that plans don't quite work the way they wanted (especially when it is because of the other's plans), the thing that actually gets me down, though, is that this will never get any easier. Just the fact that this little cloud hangs over every moment of my free time puts on a little damper, especially during the planning of the holidays.
Ok. Sorry to vent. Sometimes I feel it is okay to just ramble because it seems like I am just talking into space, yet, there are people who read this, and I think I half-forget that. So, feel free to autograph the klog everyday (hint hint)... it's not like I have to pay for the space... and knowing someone has stopped by might keep me sane. Oh wait, too late for that!
Good news... I am all registered for next semester's classes and I got all the ones I wanted! I am going to be one busy girl.

20 November 2002

I CHANGED MY CELL NUMBER. I AM OFFICIALLY LOCO... er...LOCAL.
Who's the tired little girl? ME!
It all started with being rudely awoken from sleeping in, to then be harrassed by mci...
me: Sorry I can't do this right now.
mci: Aw, why? Is it because of your boyfriend?
me: ::click:: Dude crossed the line.
Then there was some hang time... I won my first game of checkers ever!!!
Um... between classes I had an hour to hoof it to the TLA to buy some Ben Kweller tix, get back, change, and leave for yoga. Ok... this place is 13 blocks away and I speed walked that baby round trip in half an hour! Whooooof! The bonus was that I found a killer key chain from Las Vegas that has a die that does the spinny thing like my other favorite keychains. Score one for me.
Today's yoga was not your average bear. I am BEAT man!
And to top it all off... I am going to be camping out on concrete tonight for registration tomorrow. Yowza.

P.S. Oop. Those plans have now been changed. Not so much sleeping on concrete going to be happening.
And my little rosebush is showing some signs of life after a big leaves turning yellow, threatening to die, scare! I think nature is trying to tell me something.
The moral to be learned... even when you get your head(s) chopped off... and actually most of the rest of you, don't just give up and die... there's still hope. Hmmm. I think this needs to be made to apply to things other than plants and sea cucumbers that can regenerate their parts: When you think you're really down and can't go on... just think of this little rosebush that grew up next to a building that was "beetle-browed" and had "ponderous" doors... ya gotta love AP Eng! Ok, for real...

19 November 2002

mmmmmm hmmmmmmm. You gotta love that numb in the hand feeling after taking an exam. Sometimes that means you wrote a lot because you knew the stuff... or you were capable of bsing a storm... no comment. ;)
I am waaaaay more encouraged to go to combat, now that it is late in the day, oh and I work with Gary and John. mmmmmmm boys.

18 November 2002

It is a lovely fall day. The air is crisp and you can see your breath. On my way from the grocer, a man made eye contact with me and either said "How ya doin?" or "New York" and tipped his hat. The second option is actually understandable as I was wearing my Yankees beanie. ::sigh::
So yeah, today is a good mood day. In acting studio, after forgetting the words to half of my monologue and feeling like it was close to disaster, I remembered them all the second time around, and was told that both were great. wooo hooo. That's the smell of progress baby.
Just to keep things interesting, on the day I actually want to go to writing, the class that I did not procrastinate on the homework for once, is cancelled!!! GRRRR.
Ooh and I signed up for the auditions for next term's shows.

15 November 2002

Shnikeys! I just noticed how crazy fast my hair has grown. I'd say about and inch a month. Check out the difference from the pic at Halloween to a couple days ago, when I dyed it. My hair should have its own theme song...
My precious little rose bush that I took home with me from BTG Bingo has come down with a case of powder mildew and I had to chop its pretty little buds and much of its new foliage off. Now it is a misshapen little creature that begs for pity. I am greatly disgruntled.
Then, I had to pay an outlandish price for a ticket to see Pal Joey tonight. Come on! I would have waited for student rush, but the dang thing is selling out. Curses to the Philadelphia Weekly for their article on the show, which intrigued people to go see it.

14 November 2002

Quite the day.
I can see clearly now the fumes are gone...Can we say noxious gases in the ventilation system in the Terra building? Um, yeeeaaaaaaaah.
And, definately wasted my time looking for scenes for acting studio cuz they weren't good enough. I understand NOW what Hobbs was looking for, its called This Specific Play That He "Suggests" We Look At.
So, I switched into a different stage combat and it is sexy cuz now I have two scene partners, rather than a four girl to one guy ratio. We are working on our final, a scene from The Taming of the Shrew with Kate and Peter. Ummmm hmmm. It's pretty sexy.
Then, I go to writing and my teacher likes my work...
Come to find out, I doooon't have an exam in encounters tomorrow like I thought I did and was going to have to study my little butt off for, tonight! Hm, maybe I will sleep tonight.
Lastly, CHINESE FOOD! YUM.
Hey hey. My fourth wise man is comin in... wisdom teeth speaking.

13 November 2002

The events of today have been entertaining... as life should be in the world of theater.
We actually were tormented with the full two hours of seen and lightning (a.k.a. scene and lighting) which was sooo incredibly dull that we, the bored college kids we are, made it fun. Who knew that hardware and fasteners would be prime material for dirty minds??? Our teacher's last name is Johnson for crying out loud.
After that, I hooked up with these two scrumptuous men, that I think I'll be keeping with me for awhile... their names: Ben and Jerry. You know when one of your friends is egging you on to do something that is not so outrageous and something you'd actually consider doing? Well it is definately funnier when that friend takes the big ol' mouthful of carmel. That's right, Matty boy. In your face! Literally.
The other night I passed by a shady character on the street, and I had the strange suspicion that I was being followed. Being the smart girl that I am, I stayed in well lit areas and gave a glance over my shoulder. That's right buddy, the tables are turned. I'm watchin' you! My other favorite trick is to walk by windows that are big enough to check those other people out that are around you. Uh huh. But now I am not so cocky. An acquaintance, someone I have never met in person, has prophecied that I should be careful in the upcoming week. Her vision greatly resembles the situation of last night (which she did not even know took place), but me and my agressor actually come in contact. Yikes! On a lighter note...
Once upon a time I wrote a Fairy Tale, although I like the word faerie better, but who can stop the crazy makers of a mad lib style website? And how can you stop me from posting "my" creation in my blog? And how could one resist indulging in a good laugh as they read mine?

FAIRY TALE

Once upon a time there has a young FIELD MOUSE BRAIN SURGEON named HECTOR, THE HECTAGONAL. He was THOUGHTLESSLY SPELUNKING in the MAGNANAMOUS forest when he met BARBARIC FRYDAY, THE UNDERDEVELOPED SALMON, a run-away PROCTOLOGIST from the ADMONISHABLE Queen CELESTE, THE MOTHER.

HECTOR, THE HECTAGONAL could see that BARBARIC FRYDAY, THE UNDERDEVELOPED SALMON was hungry so he reached into his TRASH RECEPTACLE and give him his WORBOLLY TOE JAM. BARBARIC FRYDAY, THE UNDERDEVELOPED SALMON was thankful for HECTOR, THE HECTAGONAL's TOE JAM, so he told HECTOR, THE HECTAGONAL a very PUCE story about Queen CELESTE, THE MOTHER's daughter GOOBRA, THE UNIBROWED FERRET. How her mother, the ADMONISHABLE Queen CELESTE, THE MOTHER, kept her locked away in a PHENOMINALLY MISHAPEN LEAN-TO protected by a gigantic ONE EYED WALRUS, because GOOBRA, THE UNIBROWED FERRET was so CRABBY.

HECTOR, THE HECTAGONAL CRANED. He vowed to BARBARIC FRYDAY, THE UNDERDEVELOPED SALMON the PROCTOLOGIST that he would save the CRABBY GOOBRA, THE UNIBROWED FERRET. He would SQUAT the ONE EYED WALRUS, and take GOOBRA, THE UNIBROWED FERRET far away from her evil mother, the ADMONISHABLE Queen CELESTE, THE MOTHER, and WALLOPED her.

Then, all of the sudden, there was a CONTAGIOUS RUSTLE IN THE TREES and BARBARIC FRYDAY, THE UNDERDEVELOPED SALMON the PROCTOLOGIST began to laugh. With a puff of smoke he turned into the gigantic ONE EYED WALRUS from his story. ADMONISHABLE Queen CELESTE, THE MOTHER CRIMPED out from behind a TONGUE DEPRESSOR and struck HECTOR, THE HECTAGONAL dead. In the far off PHENOMINALLY MISHAPEN LEAN-TO you could hear a QUARKIFARKISMARKIWARKA.

THE END.

RAIN RAIN YOU CAN STAY,
COME ON OUT AND WE WILL PLAY.
Oh I want to go out and play in the rain again. It has been too long. It is raining and has been the past few days, so why am I still sitting here...
I was given a comforting amount of compliments on my hair; one included a full hair caress... ah. ;) Nice work team.
Ah yes, this is me getting moved from my 8:30AM class to the 2:30PM class. This means no more classes earlier than 10. Hugh-ray!
I recieved a care-package from Dad. He sent the last two issues of my magazine subscription. hehehe thanks.
Oooh I had steak the other day and I haven't had steak since I moved here. .:Gives meat eater look:. Don't ask me what a meat eater look is. I know you know what I am talking about...

10 November 2002

So, I dyed today. A deep mohagony. And who was there to help me? Alas, who else but Danielle? Mel popped in, too. After leaving the applicater bottle upright on the sink for a couple hours after the deed was done, I come back to find the extra dye oooooozing out of the top! Check out the couple pics at the end of Ah, kids these days.
Today, at my school, I attended the Marian Anderson Award ceremony in honor of Danny Glover, for his acting and humanitarianism. I was so close to him that if I had eaten any garlic yesterday, he could have smelled my breath, but we all know how conciderate I am, that I did not indulge last night... I'm still recovering from Paolo's the other night! It was neat to hear the speakers, including Mr. Glover, and the performers were fantastic.
I bought myself my first taste of soy milk today, and I must say I enjoy it. Of course, who could pass up anything vanilla flavored? I have noticed that I don't drink nearly as much milk as I used to... now I'm down to water and juice, and the infrequent pop (a.k.a. soda, for those east coasters)... nor do I consume much meat; neither of these are conscious choices... don't fear fam, I'm not going veg. (yet).

09 November 2002

Who-ah (Al Pacino, Scent of a Woman style)!
So, THE highlight of the day... BLACK-TIE GAY BINGO. My uncle graciously took me and Matt to this event and I had THE most fun a straight girl can have with gay men! It is so hard to accurately capture the evening. It is pretty much a "you had to be there" sorta thing. Matt was the coolest person I could have brought; I had a blast, felt pretty, and had a hot date, who cares if he's gay? I'm really interested to know what is/was going through this guy's head. He got hit on by like 40 or so year old drag queens and it was most entertaining to watch. Apparently Elise I. Hadsome was excited to know that he is legal; Matt was spotlighted from the stage, and lovingly stroked at points during the evening... "I could eat this boy right up. I could eat him so much his own mother wouldn't recognize him" ... more proof of his irresistableness. I believe there was also much ass-grabbage by multiple BVD's (Bingo Verifying Divas). Oh, if only I had remembered to recharge my camera battery; I would have gotten so many more photos... at least we know Cristina got a bunch... a lesbian chick, volunteer photographer, that is either really nice or is interested in me, possibly both. But anyway, we pride ourselves greatly in posing with our two new boyfriends of the night who mingled topless in collars and cuffs and sexy bodies: Matt with his Mr. December for Playgirl (with his Fight Club-esque injury on his back) and my Damn Why Do You Have To Be A Hot Gay Man Lance (who pinned me earlier in the evening... It was a red AIDS ribbon, but he touched my boob... but so did Matt... but Lance gave it a little pat for good measure). Where were these men come dance time? I mean come on, we oogled at them all night, but they can't show up and grind? By the way, how does one dance at a gay black tie affair? To club music: most fittingly "Dancing Queen." Matt's got this, like nobody's watching quality.... even though pretty much everyone was. They were ALL eating us up with their eyes, him mostly, and you know we were loving it... come on, we're theater people, we love attention. This is Matt, "let me be sexy as I dance ballet and freak with Jamie." "Careful, someone might mistake you for being with her," says some random guy. Damn gay men.
I have not been fed so well in a long time. I think I'll leave the food commentary at that.
The chocolate on the cherry would have been if we had won a game, but I'll take the live rose bush centerpiece, and we'll call it even. THANK YOU UNCLE JB!

08 November 2002

Sporting my dead animal coat, I went to the final dress rehearsal for Stags and Hens, a subscription production of UArts, but apparently it was cancelled due to a toilet up-stairs flooding the stage. How ironic, being that the show takes place in the bathrooms of a club!
Tonight was all about Paolo's pizza... mmm good. I think I ate a whole garlic dohickadewidgy though... and some pears from a can at home. Oh and this is me bowing to Siobhan who graciously fed me some peanut butter chip brownies. Yum!

07 November 2002

Hm. Last night I became inexplicably upset, as in depression, anger, lack of concentration, bawling sparked by gut splitting laughter, sort of way. I blame it on the change in seasons, not on Matt (what a sweetheart!). Damn weather.
Yoga was lovely yesterday. I love when we do new asanas. I get so sore the next day... oh it feels good.
Today I skipped my first college class. Because I was not feeling up to par last night, I needed the time to work on an essay due today, so stage combat was, well, sol and down its favorite stunt woman.
So I was supposed to be scoring some free Chinese last night, but that fell through, and I resorted to yet another veggie burger (so yum!), pb&j (I love it) and some oreos (omg we have so many, compliments of Beckie's mom). Oh and I am a hot chocolate drinkin fool.

06 November 2002

Why do so many people frown on procrastination? If it were a bad thing, it wouldn't have pro- for a prefix.
It is sexy when you are trying to be funny but you spell gypsy wrong. That is now remedied.
I have realized that if I am going to capture the priceless moments of college life, I need to include what I ate for dinner last night.
Veggie burger with more veggies: lettuce and tomato and 2 bowls of Sweetened Puffs. mmmmmmmmm I was hungry.
Fyi, my life is about food anyway so don't be surprised if that takes over my writing and consumes my attention, like the famished little beast it is.

05 November 2002

Ok, I've created a monster, no, what I call a "klog." In keeping with the nature of the name blog, from weB LOG... klog is for guestbooK LOG. Yeah, I know, it doesn't make sense really... guestbook log... but it is fun. hehehe. Don't get confused if you click the button. Because I am going the free route, the button links you to the page where one creates their own klog. If you'd rather leave me a message or see others' then click the appropriate words. BLAM! It's like magic, I know...
Dell's words of wisdom: "Infest serious moments with random acts of rediculousness."

04 November 2002

Today has been crazy good or I am just easily amused.
It feels good to come back to acting studio with well done homework. My lovely co-star, Danielle, and I made magic... no wait, a "transformation," as was the name of the exercise.
Then, I get a paper returned in writing with an A/B grade... this means that it is somewhere in between but can be better, depending on my attendance and revising.
Julio (real name Carson), one of my bestest amigos from home IMed me.
The draft in my room has been remedied.
I have regained possession of my cell phone, which was mistakenly left at 3a.
Milky Way Midnight's are yummy.
And, I am listening to Weezer.
What more could one want from life?

03 November 2002

I updated "Ah, kids these days" with photos of yesterday. Danielle entrusted me, the rookie stylist, with giving her highlights. Don't worry it turned out well.
I also went and visited the guys of 3a (Mike, Zak, John, and Jared). I hang there most weekends for a multitude of reasons... one little one is that they have a COUCH; this is a precious luxury that I do not have space for. There also tends to be a variety of entertainment, usually created out of boredom, which is the best. Maybe it is just so funny because we are sooo tired. I really don't know where the time goes, one minute it is 10 PM and the next it is 7 AM... hehehe.
I never fully realized how serene the city is at 7:00 AM on a sunday morning. It is so quiet and there are hardly any cars or people bustling about. The air is crisp and vibrant. The gentle aurora extends a friendly greeting to the hard buildings which look more inviting in this warm cast. It is such a refreshing change from the daily need to separate oneself from the affects of citylife... fighting traffic, avoiding beggars, and everything that sparks negativity. Only in such a peaceful time as this, is it clear what a transformation has been made from the activity of saturday night to the fresh meditative beginning of the day.

02 November 2002

Mwa hahaha. I have cracked the code. Oh yes, if you just look to the right, there orignally were only two boxes that said "archives" and "links," but now, ladies and gentlemen, I have become a small god in the electronic world. And what is more, my fine friends, I performed this magnificent feat at 1:30 in the morning!
Oh AND AND AND I made myself a little online photo album. Look to the right --> Apparently I have too much free time, due to a lack of social life or not enough homework - not that I'm complaining... about the work. Gah.
Yesterday was a hoot. I finally hung out with Danielle. This character is a riot. After chillin' like villains at her place, Ben and Matt came over. We gave Ben his first dye job. I can not say that it was not traumatizing for him, especially when a mistake is made in the first step... Ah, theatre people... trying to improv a delicate chemical reaction.
If you ever need a pick-me-up, just ask Matt to do a Cheri Oteri impression! Simma dahwn nawh.
One of my favorite things to do on the weekend is listen to Zak and Jordan jam. Sometimes, like last night, they have a special guest and as always, it was amazing. Zak has an unnatural power over the guitar, and Jordan can switch it up from bass, guitar, and piano!!! What more could a college student ask for than free entertainment?

01 November 2002

Now that I thought of it, it is not really an exaggeration if you are saying something is smaller than it really is. But, I believe you get the picture. Oh and I also lied, it is $50 a year.
Ok. This blog is exactly what I have been looking for. I have so many adventures in my college career that I want to record them, but am not all about diarys cuz they suck. Plus, I am at my computer a lot, typing is waaaaaaaay faster, and this is public. The only downfall is that I would have to pay $15 a year for extra privileges, such as picture posting, but I'M THRIFTY. So, if I have a pic I want to share, I'll make reference to it in brackets [name of pic] and if you want to see it, email me jmerwamer@hotmail.com, and I'll send it to you.
I've decided there really is no beginning and I'll just jump in and include little flashbacks to spice things up.
First, let me set the scene:
I attend The University of the Arts, a.k.a. UArts, and am majoring in Applied Theatre Arts. I live in a studio on campus in the big city of Philly, with my roommate Beckie, a sophomore Graphic Design major, and Frank and Joe, the resident roaches. We get along surprising well for people randomly thrown together in a 10' x 10' box (that's an exaggeration), and we really haven't seen bugs since the first week. We live on the seventh floor and have this amazing view. It is one of those that you got to check every five minutes cuz you're afraid it's not real or that it's gonna sneak away. *Sigh*
Last night, Halloween, I was a cobweb... actually I only had it on my pants and the rest of me was black and orange with darkened eyes. My mom will be happy to know that I went to the school function, not trick or treating, as was the original plan, but I forgot to bring my camera with me. I did take a pic of my face when I got home, to show how cracked out I looked from the make-up stinging my eyes [boo]. I love going to an art school because the people are so creative and a lot really dressed up. Some of my favs were Matt, the ghost in MY green and black striped tights (just thought I'd take some credit!), the Jay and Silent Bob guys, who I don't know their real names but think they looked dead on, the Butterfly guy, omg you had to be there, Scott, who really resembled Brad Pitt from the Fight Club (one of my fav movies!), John (the Swing Fiend) and Zak, for their self-assurance, and oh.... the list is so long. John and I have been practicing some swing in our spare time... Dell: it's all about the pretzel!... and so we requested some songs. We were so syked that the dj played two! Wooo that was the highlight of the dance. I just wish I could have watched cuz John was in a little plaid skirt, hehe.
Ha, I was flattered that Danielle thought I was making an Eddie Izzard reference in my last post. Nope. That's all me.
